Active™ theory
Action fit
A narrow fit enables you to use a full range of movement without being hindered by your load. A snug and close fit holds the load close to your body so it synchronises with your movements. This helps you balance and move fast, efficiently and with ease when negotiating difficult terrain. The lightweight, low-bulk and easy-to-adjust design keeps weight to a minimum without compromising performance.

Internal frame bars
Vertical frame bars transfer the load weight from your spine and shoulders down to your hips where it can be carried more efficiently and without affecting your range of movement.

Hipbelt
The strong and flexible hipbelt with diagonal attachment stabilises the load while enabling it to synchronise with your body movements.

Shoulder pad attachment
A unique shoulder pad attachment enables a full range of movement in your shoulder area while allowing the load to remain stable on your hips.

Back panel and lumbar pad
The fully padded back panel provides exceptional stability and a more positive carry. The lumbar pad is contoured to fit the curve of your lower back to provide additional support. Contact™ fabric enhances breathability, comfort and grip.

Side stabiliser straps
Hip-fin stabiliser straps cinch the load close to your body to reduce lateral sway when load balance is critical.

AirMesh™
The configuration of the contact points enables air to channel around your back, maximising ventilation. Ventilation is further enhanced with the use of AirMesh™ fabric. AirMesh™ fabric works by wicking perspiration away from your skin. This keeps you drier and more comfortable when you are working hard or in hot conditions. AirMesh™ fabric also provides valuable padding from your load.

Back panel
Weight transfer from the shoulders to the hip region is achieved through twin aluminium stays. The stays allow the back panel to be shaped to suit individual needs, optimising spinal comfort. The 25l and 35l AirFlo™ harnesses have a HDPE framesheet instead of aluminium stays.

Hipbelt
The strong and flexible hipbelt with hip-fin stabiliser straps cinches the load close to your body to reduce lateral sway when balance is critical. A double adjusting hipbelt buckle tightens to give a precise fit. The 25l AirFlo™ harnesses have a lightweight padded hipbelt.

AirSupply 08™ theory
Stable fit
In order to maximise the carrying stability of the pack, the AirSupply? 08 harness features a full lumbar pad and a close fitting hip belt to help you control your load in variable terrain.

AirMesh
The configuration of the back panel center channel and recessed lateral padding helps move air around your back. Ventilation is further enhanced with the use of AirMesh? fabric in the back panel and hip belt. AirMesh? fabric works by wicking perspiration away from your skin. This keeps you drier and more comfortable when you are working hard or in hot conditions. AirMesh? fabric also provides valuable padding from your load.

Back panel

The lightweight and flexible hipbelt consist of hip-fin stabiliser straps which cinch the load close to your body to reduce lateral sway when balance is critical. A double adjusting hipbelt buckle tightens to give a precise fit.

Dynamic™ theory
With each step you take you lean backwards and forwards and side to side. This changes the shape and length of your spine, torso and muscles. If your harness does not flow with your body then you will struggle to move easily and will find it difficult to balance. This increases the risk of skin pressure, chafing and muscle and skeletal strains. Your journey will also not be enjoyable as you feel every aspect of your pack moving against your body.
We have designed a pack harness that synchronises with the complex movements of your body, thereby providing greater comfort.
The Dynamic™ Harness performs best carrying medium to heavy loads (up to 20kg) over difficult terrain where harness flexibility and freedom to move are essential.

Dynamic Pivoting Hipbelt™
The Dynamic™ Pivot provides maximum freedom to move by allowing your hips to work independently from your shoulders, back and the pack. Laminations of dense, energy-absorbent EVA foam distribute the weight from the base of your spine (lower lumbar) over your entire hip area and provide firm yet responsive support.

Internal frame bars and back extension
Contoured internal vertical frame bars distribute the load weight from your shoulders and spine down to your lower lumbar area. They also give the sac form and rigidity. The back extension changes shape as you move by stretching and compressing with your spine. This prevents the hipbelt from riding up off your hips.

Lumbar pad
The lumbar pad provides back support and encourages you to stand upright, while helping the harness sit comfortably in the curve of your lower back. Highly breathable AirMesh™ fabric reduces the build-up of perspiration against your back, keeping you dry and comfortable.

Side stabiliser straps
Side stabiliser straps allow you to tighten the sac to the harness to achieve greater load stability when balance is critical.

A specially lightened high-density polyethylene (HDPE) framesheet transfers weight from the shoulders to the hip region while still providing resistance to kinking.

Hipbelt
The lightweight, flexible padded hipbelt with hip-fin contours to your body to improve comfort. A double adjusting hipbelt buckle tightens to give a precise fit while an integrated mesh pocket on the hip belt ensures essentials are kept close at hand.

For unrestricted freedom of movement and multi-day trekking the new Liberator™ load-carrying system presents a breakthrough in load-carrying technology, with the Freeload™ transfer system.

Elevator Pivot Point
We've moved the point of movement away from the base of your spine to the point of natural flex in your back. This relieves pressure from your gluteus muscles (your bum!) and puts the hip belt in line with your natural hip movement.

Liberator™ Hip Belt
The Liberator™ hip belt works with the Elevator pivot point to create freedom to move more efficiently and let your muscles work without restriction. Positioned higher, thanks to the Elevator pivot pint, the Liberator™ hip belt avoids contact with your gluteus maximus muscles while still maintaining a firm grip on your pelvic girdle. This means the Liberator™ hip belt grips your skeleton in a way that provides stability and doesn't restrict movement.

Freeload™ Transfer System and Rods
You can tailor the load flex and transfer exactly to your liking. The rods can be positioned in a number of different ways. For serious scrambling, just leave the rods in their neutral position and let the hip belt move freely. When back on solid ground, crank the rods up into full position and maximum load transfer will be achieved - and your shoulders will breathe a sigh of relief.

Flexor Suspension System
Customised aluminium shoulder tracks that flex as you move for greater stability. Welded as part of the frame, the Flexor system acts as a shock absorber; it moves as you do.

T-Bone™ harness
Strategically placed foam cushions for comfort and stability, 3mm spacer mesh over 15mm open cell foam. 1.5mm flexed HDPE back panel for structure.

T-Bone Air™
Mesh air distribution channel for comfort. Compared to a traditional 'trampoline' harness the T-Bone Air™ system promotes greater airflow while keeping the load close to your centre of gravity. It also allows airflow without impinging on load carrying capacity.

Accentuated S-shaped Shoulders
3mm spacer mesh over 10mm easi-form EVA foam for comfort. A differential cut eliminates wrinkles in the spacer mesh. Back-tacked, reinforced and thread-break tested to 200kg for those days when you load up on too many books, groceries or energy bars.

Rail rider sternum strap
Rail rider sternum strap system provides non-distortion of shoulders when tensioned.

Base wear protection
Durable wear protection at base of lumbar cushion (AzTec® or Junior Ballistic 420D Nylon).

T-Bone™ load-carrying system

Pack design for Women
Men and women are different in body form and how they distribute and carry a load. Macpac have a number of women's models in our Liberator™, Liberator™ Freeload™, AirFlo™, Quantum™, Dynamic™, Wraptor™ and Active™ harnesses that offer optimal fit, comfort and performance.

Design features
•    Shoulder straps are closer together so they sit on a woman's narrow shoulders and don't slip off.
•    Hipbelt is longer and more flared to fit over a woman's broad and curved hipbones.
•    Soft dual-density foam on the shoulder pads provides comfort across the sensitive chest area.
•    Lower-profile shoulder pads with tapered thickness under the arms provides more clearance and reduces chafing.
•    Sternum strap is narrower and sits higher.
•    Small and less bulky buckles are used to get a neater fit on a woman's smaller frame. This also makes them easy to adjust and open with small hands.

Pack Fabrics
Aztec® Fabric
Why have committed outdoor enthusiasts trusted AzTec®, a unique pack fabric from New Zealand’s Macpac, for over 20 years?In a quest for a superior weatherproof and hard wearing pack fabric, Macpac developed AzTec®. It’s not only tough when it’s new; AzTec® is known to resist weather, wear and tear over many years of active use. Macpac’s formidable reputation for ruggedness and weatherproofness has a lot to do with AzTec’s® tough fabric construction.

AzTec® fabrics are constructed from a unique blend of hard wearing, long staple cottons and abrasion and rot resistant polyester fibres. The strands are plied together and tightly woven into a durable cloth. The cloth is saturated in a blend of resins and waxes to create a weather-proof fabric. In wet conditions, the natural swelling of the cotton fibres fills airspaces to enhance the weather-proofness of AzTec® fabric.

Hypalon™ Fabric
Chosen for its extreme abrasion and tear resistance, Hypalon™ is a fabric that is constructed from laminations of embossed polyurethane over an 80D nylon fabric. Hypalon™ provides the rugged durability required to protect your pack from sharp tools and rocks.

420D Nylon
Light in weight and highly abrasion resistant, 420D nylon fabric is ideal when conservation of weight and durability are required. Constructed from a 420 denier nylon, the fabric is coated with layers of polyurethane to increase its strength and deliver a high degree of water resistance.

420D HT
Light in weight and highly abrasion resistant, 420D HT nylon fabric is ideal when conservation of weight and durability are required. Constructed from a high tenacity, 420 denier nylon 6.6 fibre, the fabric is coated with layers of polyurethane to increase its strength and deliver a high degree of water resistance.

210D Nylon Fabric
210D Nylon is a light weight material ideal when conservation of weight and durability are required. Constructed from a nylon 210 denier filament yarn, the fabric is coated with layers of polyurethane to deliver a high degree of water resistance.

550D Polyester Fabric
Constructed from 550 denier polyester fibres and coated with polyurethane, 550D polyester fabric is tough and water resistant. The soft handle and resistance to high wear means 550D polyester is ideal for products in daily use.

Titan Grid™ Fabric
Our lightweight and durable Titan Grid fabric is a 100d high tenacity nylon The silicon outer coating and PU inner coating add weatherproofness and at only 116g/m2 it is ideal for applications where conserving weight is critical. Compared to similar weight fabrics Titan Grid offers improved durability as the grid structure and raised fibres enhance its ability to absorb abrasion.
