The best puffer jacket
As apart of the macpac crew, I have found myself with a large collection of puffer jackets. However, the supanova is by far the highlight of my accumulation over the years due to its superior warmth/weight capability and tidiness in its ability to be worn in a multitude of situations.

Lightweight yet wonderfully warm
As I'm always interested in lightweight garments yet unwilling to compromise on comfort, I bought this jacket based on the high quality materials used in its construction.
The first test was a trip into the Canterbury High Country to an unheated hut, less than 1km away from a glacier. The hut temperature went down to 2 degrees overnight and as I feel the cold, I slept with the jacket on with hood up. Toasty!
It includes under-arm fleece panels for ventilation (bit of possible torso heat-loss when arms are raised) which I didn't really need because its intended use is a hut/camp jacket and I don't plan to use it on any aerobic activities. I have the 'Pulsar' synthetic jacket for that as I don't have to worry about the down getting damp. The new Supanova I see has HyperDry down which would make the jacket more versatile in that respect.
With only a long sleeve merino underneath I was more than warm when the ambient temperature was low. The Supanova packs down to a small package but I chose to stuff it around other items in my pack which meant it needed less re-lofting when needed.
I recommend this jacket if you are looking for a lightweight down jacket that will keep you warm in cold conditions.

This is my favourite jacket, so light weight but really warm. Easy to put into a pack taking up very little space. Totally recommend it.
