The perfect convertible
I have searched long and hard for the perfect convertible pack! I wanted something with wheel/duffle/backpack options and didn't need an extra backpack on the front. The bag itself is super light considering its versitility. My only recommendation would be if there could be the ability to have a compartment to separate your shoes as I am travelling with hiking botots and they get dirty often. Also a 70L would be amazing! Overall love love love.

Love this bag, it’s so easy to pack and travel with. Rollers are sturdy and heaps of handles if you have to pick the bag up for some stairs or lift it into a car boot or off the airport luggage carousel there’s heaps of options to grab it by. I have gone on to buy the same bag for family who are coming on holiday with me because I want them to have the same enjoyment in traveling with this bag as me.

Great idea, but trolley wheels can’t withstand airport luggage handlers rough treatment.
I’ve now done 3 x 6 weeks trips to Europe with my Global 80. Overall it was great, however, the wheel system while new, was fine, but rough handling by airport luggage guys has lead to the wheels being bent inward such that it is almost impossible to drag along. I can find no way of straightening the wheels, so unless I can get a full replacement of the trolley base the bag has little use in future.

Excellent - worked out just fine
I took this combination travel bag on a 5 week humanitarian mission to a developing country with average mid-30s temps. It worked out great. Easy to wheel around airports. Balance is just fine with a full pack (wheeling or standing), the odd shape is obviously designed for this. Volume was perfect for me, I packed it as full as I could and it was still only 20-22kg. Strong reliable zips that flow easily. Enough varying sized pockets everywhere you would practically want/need them. I did not need to use the backpack straps afterall yet (sorry, can't help with review there), but they were very comfortable when I tried it on in the store (empty) with all the ideal strap adjustments you would expect from Macpac for a comfortable short hike if needed, for a combination travel bag. Just one comment though, the inner lining of the black one I had was a burnt orange kind of colour - seems like an odd choice as it doesn't go with any of your other travel packing accessories, Macpac, garment bags and toiletry bags (which I also use), so could you please colour coordinate for others, Macpac, (consider from both a female and male perspective), thanks Macpac. I shopped around carefully where I live and this product stood out as best overall.

My beloved bag!
I’ve had this bag for almost 2 years. I travel quite a bit and this is my go-to suitcase for most trips less than 3 weeks. Loaded to the max it carries about 20kg of stuff. I’ve tested it in real life: Went backpacking, on buses, boats, trains, even once wheeled it for 3km through rough country roads and it still looks as good as new! The bag is lightweight, and the included backpack straps are handy to use for short distances such as going up some obscure hostel’s stairs or climbing aboard a boat. Totally happy with my purchase. Expensive but worth it.

Global 80L Travel Bag
I've owned this model for just over two years, I work fly in/fly out NZ-Indoneasia traveling approx every 5 weeks. Only two issues, the exposed aluminum frame broke after a couple of months and the top fabric handle is letting go on one attachment point. Apart from that it is a great travel bag.

Regarding Phil H's review: can Macpac provide spare wheels/axles?

Why isn’t the carbon colour in NZ unlike the UK and AU. We only have the choice of black?
BEST ANSWER: Hi Mark, this is due to stock levels. Carbon sold out in NZ, but still some left in the AU warehouse (DC). We only have 3rd party distributors in UK, so they may still have some stock - but we cannot check the stock levels for them sorry. We hope this helps, the Macpac Team
Hi, is this bag water resistant at all please? Cheers, Sarah
BEST ANSWER: Hi - Yes this is treated with water resistance. All the best, The Macpac Team.
Hey what size pack cover would I need for this? Also what is the warranty and is it very sturdy ? I’m doing six months travelling worldwide and I need something that’s gonna last and that I can put on my back if needed as well as wheel. Thanks :)
BEST ANSWER: Hello Brittany, we stock pack covers that enclose the whole bag/duffel. Please see link below that should be compatible (please note this is a wheeled duffel so it may not fit into the cover) This is a sturdy rolled duffel that should last the distance. Please follow the other link provided to view what is covered under warranty. Hope this is helpful. Cheers :)
