Why we made this
Whether you're heading into the hills for an adventure or embarking on the daily commute to work, the Rapaki 26L Backpack is ready for the journey.
  • Product Description
A backpack to get you from the city to the hills comfortably and safely, the Rapaki 26L Backpack lets you tuck away your laptop, clip on your cycle light and race into weekend without a hitch. Inspired by our local Rapaki Track in Christchurch, New Zealand, this pack comes with internal organisation compartments, hip belt pockets and two drink bottle pockets for on the go hydration — or if you prefer, throw in your hydration bladder for easy access to water while cutting a lap on the local single track. Made to last, the harness has reinforced, contoured shoulder straps and strategically-placed foam padding with a mesh overlay for ergonomic comfort and increased breathability — plus the sliding rail sternum strap allows you to lower or raise the strap for a personalised fit.
  • Design features
420D Oxford nylon fabric with PU coating
Padded harness with mesh overlay for breathability and comfort
Internal pockets and laptop sleeve (holds 17" laptop)

Suitable soap types are: pure soap, vegetable soap and Nikwax® Tech Wash®
Rinse the pack well and dry it in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight
Do not put your pack in the washing machine as this will void your warranty

Very Comfy, and fits more than you'd think.
This thing is super comfy. the semi rigid curve of the back fits my back like a bag shaped glove. This has its caveats however, as the inside of the bag is a bit of an odd shape, making it difficult to pack neatly without cubes etc. However you can squeeze quite a lot in, I was surprised how much I fit.

Having the waist strap stowable is a nice idea, but unfortunately its VERY difficult to tuck it away. Unless there's some secret instruction that Macpac haven't seen fit to share with it, you can expect to spend several minutes on this take and still be unsatisfied by the results.

Similarly, the external bottle holders are fiddly to get even a medium sized bottle in. I don't know, I just felt I needed a third hand to open it up properly.

Overall, super comfy, great capacity, decent compartments, weird shape, average looks.

Pretty good.

Great day pack
For something so small, it holds a lot of stuff and is very comfortable to wear. Very pleased with my pack

Haven't used yet, but looks a good size day pack. Feels confortable. I like the idea of being able to tuck away hip straps if not needed

Not as durable as I'd hoped for
I've had this pack for less than 3.5 years and the side pocket that is unstitched has frayed and the fabric is now coming away from the zip and it hasn't even had a hard life.

Can i use this on a plane as carry on luggage?
Kiri M on Nov 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: yes generally speaking you can. I regularly use it as my personal item that goes under the seat in addition to another bag. this depends on the airline though, some have rules that might exclude it.
Is the hip belt really removable on the Rapaki 26L? I can't see how as it seems to be sewn in.
CamTheLegend on Mar 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Cameron, this is not removable, however this can be folded back up into itself. We have asked our Website development team to remove the word removable from the website as this is not entirely true. If you are near a local Macpac store we would recommend popping into store and having one of our friendly staff demonstrate how to fold the waist belt back into itself. Cheers :)
Hi, the strap at the bottom of the pack, (bottom front facing out when on) what is this for and how do you use it please?
Barbara W on Jan 3, 2020
On the straps you Cary the pack with there are two straps to secure it. A big on on the bottom to go around your waist and a narrow one on the top to go around your chest. Adjust to sit comfortably.
If you carry the pack on walking trips you don’t really need them. I use it on my motor bike to secure it when riding.
Have fun
The pack also has small velcro strips on the inside and outside of the waist belt, outside connects to the vertical should strap for some reason but any idea what the internal one is for?
Craig W on Jul 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Craig, the internal one is for when you retract the hip belt inside, these are used to make sure they don’t slide back out again. We hope this helps, Thanks.
