Why we made this
Made from water-resistant canvas fabric, the Carrington Parka is designed for urban dwellers, featuring a casual matte finish and premium synthetic insulation.
  • Product Description
The urban parka to rule the weather, the Carrington delivers warmth in a new way. Filled with premium PrimaLoft® Silver Thermoplume® synthetic insulation, this parka’s microfiber fill consists of small, silky plumes that mimic the lightweight warmth, softness and compressibility of natural goose down. Providing a similar ‘puffiness’ to natural down, Thermoplume® is described as a blowable synthetic insulation that looks, acts and insulates like down — but because it doesn’t absorb moisture, it offers better performance in wet conditions. The polyester/cotton canvas shell offers casual, matte styling with a DWR finish, while multiple pockets and a two-way front zip with an external, domed storm flap maintains functionality for winter use.

Fantastic parka, with padding for warmth
Would definitely recommend this jacket if you're looking for a jacket that keeps you warm, as well as dry if you get caught in a shower. This jacket is a perfect cross between a classic parka, and a down jacket (it's synthetic down - not the real deal but still toasty warm and can withstand getting a little wet). The length is good - it sits below my bum, but the best thing is the hood - I get really annoyed at those hoods that don't completely cover your head/hair - this one is generous, plus the high neck when you do the jacket all the way up means it keeps you properly dry. Pockets are also deep and awesome - if I'm walking the kids to school I can just put my cell, keys and purse in the pockets - no bag necessary. It also has elasticated, thick and warm wrist bands to keep the cold out. So, yeah, basically I love this jacket - it's perfect for what I wanted, and getting it on sale was even better :)

High quality winter coat
I wear this coat when in the city, out for coffee, or walking around in town. I like the long length to cover my bottom and upper legs when the wind hits. They are water resistent which is a bonus for the odd light shower. My favourite thing about the carrington is all the deep pockets. There is no shortage of pocket to store your things. The side pockets are fleecy and soft inside. I like the double zip as I open the bottom when I use this jacket to bike in for more movement.

The only thing would be that they are a little bulky if I were to put them in a bag.

How warm is this jacket (compared with the Macpac Aurora Coat)?
Lucy C on Apr 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Lucy

The Carrington is a synthetic jacket, however the Aurora is a duck down jacket.
We do not provide a temperature range for jackets as the warmth depends on each person.
While neither of the jackets are waterproof the the synthetic will still be warm when it's wet but down doesn't hold its warmth so well when it gets wet.

Kind Regards,
The Macpac Team!
