Whether you're jetsetting across the world, or heading off on a road trip, the Global 80 is an excellent luggage option. I have been travelling for 11 weeks with this sturdy piece of luggage.
The features I like are the fact it does not weigh a big part of your luggage allowance, It is very simple to pack and all parts are easily accessible.
I have not used the shoulder straps but view these as a bonus if you have to carry your pack for any length of time. A great piece of kit to make your travel more enjoyable.
Love it. The ability to luxuriously wheel the bag around when travelling from place to place is brilliant. Then when you reach some stairs or a crowd, you just chuck the bag on your bag until you're ready to roll again. This bag has been with me for 4 trips around Japan and has more than enough compartments to make everything easily accessible. I looked at other brand name bags when i was buying a 2nd one of these trolley x backpacks for my girlfriend, but none of them had the same quality or comfort as the Macpac version. Well worth the dollars spent.

Purchased two Global 80 and two Global 55 bags for an 8 week family trip to Europe for two adults and two teenagers (13 & 16) covering 7 countries and 11 stops during the northern winter. All bags performed brilliantly and came out the other side looking good as new. They endured being dragged long distances over paving and cobblestones (every few days) and even being dragged through snow and grit on a couple of occasions. The snowy days also saw us revert to using the harnesses. These worked well for both sizes but the Global 80 was more comfortable having the waist strap for support. No issues with the material, wheels or zips, all proved robust and the sizing was fine with the 80's used by the adults and 55's by the teenagers. Given the (great) condition they are in now I expect to own these for many years and take them on many adventures (two of them also did a ski trip in NZ last winter). I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again and happily recommend them. Another great Macpac product.
My wife and I bought two of these for our 5 week safari in Africa and it lives up to expectations. These packs were subject to a lot of harsh environments and rough handling and show no signs of any problems, plenty of side compartments and using packing cells they were just the job for daily breakdown and repack, would recommend for use on a path less traveled.
Used this pack around Europe for 3 months. It is a good pack to wheel but the straps are a gimic only and I'm tempted to cut them off. Cannot put this on your back, too uncomfortable. The soft shell came in handy when placing ot behind train seats as opposed to a hard suitcase.
I bought this pack in Jan 2016.
Good points: very light, easy to wheel on non carpet surface.
easy to pack and all compartments easy to excess.
1)Two long haul travel NZ- Kenya and Kenya - Sierra Leone via Europe,
2)some of the seams near the handle on the top started coming undone. the fabric on various parts of pack started fraying. (Feb)
3)The shoulder strap is not comfortable if one has to carry the pack a long distance. Especially with weight of 20- 30kg.
