Why we made this
Our most iconic tent, the Olympus is a two-person, four-season alpine tunnel tent — designed for hiking and climbing in New Zealand's harshest weather conditions.
-
Product Description
Constructed with a three-pole tunnel design, the four-season Olympus is our classic alpine tent. Engineered for maximum durability and aerodynamic stability in high winds, the Olympus comfortably sleeps two people. The Multi-Pitch™ system offers ultimate versatility, allowing you to pitch the fly and inner together or separately. In addition, the Olympus's design also allows you to pitch the fly and inner at the same time while connected — an advantage in wet weather. The waterproof UV30™ SI fly is made from a silicone-coated nylon fabric known for its strength, water resistance and UV protection. It has a 3,000 mm hydrostatic head. Please note, this fly needs to be manually seam sealed with the provided SilNet™ seam sealer. A Torrentwear™ XP tub floor design is both waterproof and durable, keeping the water out and removing the need for a separate footprint. Three DAC Featherlite® NSL™ poles are included — these poles are developed through DAC's 'green anodizing' process which helps to minimise toxic chemicals in the production process, which is better for workers and the environment. The tent offers dual entry points (front and rear) with a large front vestibule — complete with storm/snow flaps — for shelter cooking and gear storage. It has an internal double door, mesh panelling and a four vent system for improved airflow in the warmer months.

Care
Always dry tent components before storing
When required, clean your tent with pure, non-detergent soap or Nikwax® Tech Wash® and a soft-bristled brush or sponge
Do not machine wash
Rinse well and dry in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight
After washing, we recommend that you reproof the fly with Nikwax® Tent & Gear SolarProof®
UV damage — do not leave tent pitched in direct sunlight for longer than necessary
Hot surfaces — do not pitch tent on hot surfaces as can cause blistering of fabric
Repairs — fabric patches and a pole repair sleeve are included for temporary repair
Contact Macpac Repairs Department for permanent repair — see ‘Warranty & Repairs’ link under the Help section for more information

Hi there, What is the width of the narrowest points? You have the width at the widest points on the diagram, but I would like to know whether my double pad will fit at the narrowest points (width 120cm)? Cheers
BEST ANSWER: Hello Joshua,
We don't have the exact measurements, but you should be able to fit your 120cm pad in the tent.
Kind Regards,
The Macpac Team

Do you still make the Plateau?
BEST ANSWER: HI Nigel,
We are not manufacturing the Plateau at the moment. However we have a larger version of the two-person Plateau tent. It is called Aspiring tent - designed to support three people in alpine or polar conditions, through all four seasons!

What would be an experts' thoughts? Are there any major differences between the Minaret tent and the Olympus tent apart from the extra 600-800 grams? What tent would be best for bush hunting and high ridge hiking with strong winds and rain? Is the Olympus easy to pitch and set up with the third pole or is the Minaret a more simple pitching option? cheers
BEST ANSWER: Hello Jacob,
In terms of pitching and how it will handle in strong rain and winds the two tents are pretty similar to each other. The main difference is that the Olympus is an alpine tent vs. the Minaret which is a hiking tent - essentially this means that Olympus is made for use in full alpine conditions. If you won't be in any alpine conditions, the Minaret is definitely the better option.
