Brilliant!

Harry Maher - CEO NZ Land Search & Rescue, 26/09/15

Like Sam, I'm sold on these pants. The lined softshell is a whole new experience and just so much more comfortable and warm-feeling than the hardshell pants. These pants go easily over touring ski boots and, while I haven't yet tried them in a the rain yet, they did easily repel the spring slop I was skiing in for several hours. The cuff mechanism nicely stops the muck getting up inside the trouser leg.

Pockets are well positioned and you can load the thigh pocket up and not notice (unlike some other pants I have). I really liked the liner material inside the pockets. Great touch.

All in all a great pair of pants and will be my staple in the hills. Match these with a Fitzroy Softshell jacket and you'll be completely sorted!

Very impressed with my new Fitzroy pants. Super breathable, excellent weather protection! Had issues with soft-shell pants in the past, but these beauts have exorcised the demons!

My go-to in the hills - Awesome!

Jack Austin, 16/07/17

Hands down the most comfortable outdoor pants I have ever worn! I must say I was put off from getting softshell pants as my previous pairs hadn’t really ticked the boxes for me, but the Fitzroy is now well and truly my go-to in the hills. It’s breathable and stretchy so perfect for doing any climbs as well as highly water-resistant for the rainy days. Well-fitted pockets with an awesome fleece material inside to keep your hands warm. I love the cuffing at the bottom which fits perfectly with my alpine boots and also has a hidden secret to them in the hidden boot hook at the front, enabling you to hook onto your boot ensuring they don’t lift up and no dirt or debris gets into your socks/boots; awesome! Partnered with a very comfortable tricot lined waistband and an articulated knee, giving you heaps for movement and manoeuvrability, there is honestly nothing bad I could say about these pants! I cannot wait to get out using them more and more!

Great soft shell pants

Sam Newton, 01/09/15

I have always used the ol' thermals and hard shell over trou combination for climbing and skiing. Was intrigued when some experienced guides and elite amateurs have advocated for lined soft-shell pants as the way forward. I gave it a go with these pants and will not go back. I have used them for ski-touring and on piste (probably not what they were designed for, but no matter). Greater flexibility, freedom and agility derived from not wearing thermal underwear. These are very windproof, warm and held up pretty well against the only shower that I encountered. Zippered pockets are handy - you don't really get those in hard shell trousers. I might apply a waterproofing agent in due course and will carry a pair or hard shell over trousers in the mountains, in case of really grim wx. Good job NZAT for getting some quality gear designed and made by a NZ brand.
