A purchase you won't regret
I love my jacket! It's super warm without the bulk, wind proof and packs down small & is so lightweight.
My only (minor) critique is that it would be helpful to have the pack away pouch attached to the jacket internally somehow, to reduce the chance of losing the pouch. Regardless I would 100% recommend this jacket to everyone.

Good value on sale
Lightweight, warm and very packable. However, it sheds down through the seams every time I wear it, so it probably won't last too many years (this rarely happens with my cheap Uniqlo down vest). Best purchased when on sale as a result.

Warmer than you expect!
I get put off off by the bulkiness and dark colours of standard down jackets so I was delighted to find this light blue one. I live in dry alpine conditions and initially bought this to wear indoors with a merino underneath but have found its perfect to wear to go to the shops etc, can be worn with other layers to bulk up the warmth if needed, it has made such a difference so far this winter and I wear it daily. The stuff sack means it is easy to travel with or keep in the car. The pockets are huge (are the size of the left/right front panels) elastic cuffs are perfect and I preferred the hood) I’m so pleased that I bought this and can’t recommend it enough!

Great Buy
I also have the Uber Light Down Vest, size 12, which I carry and use in the Huts in the warmer weather. Purchased this jacket to wear in the huts in the colder weather as they are very very compactable and yet keep me snuggly when worn over my layering system. They are a bit bigger in fit than the Halo Down Jacket so just be aware of this, maybe its because the 'Lites' are not as stuffed full of down as the Halo. I have a 12 in the Halo and bought a 14 in the 'Light' as I wear more clothing in a Hut in the winter months, but a 12 would have been okay. Still very happy with my purchase.

Very slim fitting
It’s great but too small - very slim fitting - but there was no return slip in the parcel so can’t return until we’re at level 2 so can’t get a bigger one until then either

is the jacket good for winter e.g snow ?
Lorraine T on Jun 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Lorraine, Thank you for the question. The Uber Light is a summer weight jacket equivalent to a jersey in warmth. Recommended for snow only in conjunction with other warm protective layers - not as a stand alone snow piece. All the best, The Macpac Team.
Hi does the hood of this jacket tuck away or is it permanently out? thank you
Heidi T on May 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Heidi. All of the hoods in our Down range are permanently out. The Zodiac Vest, Aurora Coat and Ember Jacket have hoods that can be zipped off. We hope this helps. Thanks.

Yes, the Uber Light Hooded down jacket it is true to size.

Is it the same warmth as the Halo?
Zahara A on Jun 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Zahara,

The Halo has a larger amount of duck down fill weight, and therefore a warmer jacket. The Light jacket is considered more like a warm mid layer.

Kind regards,
Macpac Team

Hi there, would this be suitable over winter for outdoor sports spectating for an hour or so?
Emma B on Jun 18, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Emma, all depends where you are in the world, and what temperatures you get during winter. If you are in the South Island in NZ for example I would recommend something warmer.

Might be best to give us a call on 0800 622722 or 1800 325215 and we can transfer you to a store for the best advise.

Thanks the Macpac Team
Is it waterproof?
Alissa M on May 16, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Not waterproof sorry. Checkout our Rain Wear range for waterproof items.
Out of your range which is best for active hiking? Uber light or the icefall?
Ger L on Dec 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Ger, the Icefall would be highly recommended for active hiking. The Uberlight is a very basic spec compared. The Uber will pack down to almost nothing, whereas the Icefall will take up more room in pack. Icefall will keep you warm if wet, the Uber will not etc.

You can check out the comparison on this link: https://www.macpac.co.nz/on/demandware.store/Sites-MacpacNZ-Site/en_NZ/Compare-Show?category=womens-jackets_vests-down_insulated_jackets

We hope this helps, the Macpac Team
Will it discoloured when it has rained on?
Valerie W on Jun 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Valerie, you will just get a darkening when the fabric is wet and then it will return to usual colour when dried. All the best, The Macpac Team.
Do you have a synthetic version?
Amanda on May 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Amanda. Yes we do. The Southerly Jacket is filled wiith Primaloft Gold insulation and has a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish. In our clearance section we still have some sizes available in the ETA Jacket, this is lighter than the Southerly Jacket and is filled with Primaloft Silver insulation. We hope this helps. Thanks.
