Macpac Lightweight Prophet Pertex® Rain Jacket — Women's
Why we made this
We designed this alpine hardshell to be waterproof, durable and breathable — made for climbers, the Lightweight Prophet performs consistently across all four seasons.
Designed for mountaineers, the Lightweight Prophet is an alpine hardshell providing advanced weather protection and technical performance. Engineered to be waterproof and windproof, this jacket is fully seam sealed and features Pertex® Shield Pro fabric for a waterproof and durable 3-layer construction that provides highly breathable protection for extended use in extreme conditions. Pertex® Shield Pro uses a microporous membrane to allow moisture vapour to pass through the fabric, effectively minimising sweat build up and keeping you comfortable for longer. Complete with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) fabric treatment, the Lightweight Prophet is engineered to help keep you dry in the mountains. Designed with the climber in mind, this jacket has increased lift patterning in the underarms for freedom of movement and is both helmet and harness compatible, with raised hand pockets (and an external chest pocket) for easy access while on route. With a clean silhouette, high collar and YKK® AquaGuard® water-resistant pocket zips (please note: they are not waterproof), the Lightweight Prophet is fully featured for all-weather mountain missions.

I took this jacket out for it’s maiden trip the first 1 hour of rain the jacket beaded nicely but soon after my whole thermal top under layer was soaked. Not waterproof for long at all. As an outdoor professional I am Rather disappointed.

Response from Macpac
Hello Emily, thanks for the review and really sorry to hear this has happened. Our initial thoughts are that it might have been moisture / sweat on the inside of the jacket giving the impression the jacket was leaking. However, as you say in your message, you are an outdoor professional so you are likely to know about this. We would suggest taking into your local Macpac store, where the team will be able to send away on your behalf to get a professional waterproof test done on the jacket. If you need any further help please do email our Customer Care Team on firstname.lastname@example.org

Raincoat with swimming pool pockets
Bought this jacket in store last year when about to walk the Kepler with bad weather forecast. The sales guy assured us this was the best jacket for the rainy conditions we were facing. Luckily not too much rain in that trip so jacket went well. Just completed Milford in heavy rain & pockets filled up with water which stayed in & had to be emptied on a regular basis - awkward in heavy rain. Online description mentions pockets not being waterproof but that wasn’t on tag in store. When paying $599 for a high spec raincoat, a waterproof zip should be used - especially on pockets with no flap. Spoke to Macpac customer service & their response was to check the holes aren’t blocked. Probably will not buy a Macpac Raincoat again.

Hi Christine, thank you for your recent review. Looking into this we can see that you have been in contact with our Customer Care and Product Design Team. The zips, while water resistant, are not 100% waterproof. We do try and make that clear in our product information, and while this is stated online, we will investigate to make sure this is clear when shopping instore Thanks the Macpac Team
