Why we made this
A proven alpine expedition tent, the Hemisphere supports four people across all four seasons.
  • Product Description
Refined over countless expeditions, the four person Hemisphere Alpine Tent is the ultimate basecamp shelter. Built around a geodesic structure, with six poles and eight pole intersections, this alpine tent is designed to provide maximum liveable space, while remaining stable in high winds and under heavy snow loading. The fly is constructed with UV30™ PU, our premium, factory seam sealed fly material that gives continued strength under prolonged UV exposure. The floor is built with our legendary Torrentwear™ XP tub design, providing a waterproof and durable base for your camp. With two enlarged vestibules equipped with snow flaps, there's plenty of room for sheltered entry, cooking and gear storage. In addition, because we know adequate ventilation is crucial with prolonged use, we've created a six-vent air system that encourages airflow through the tent and manages condensation without compromising insulation. To control the temperature inside the tent across seasons, the tent features a fully removable inner fabric roof panel, extending comfortable use into the warmer months. The Hemisphere Alpine Tent is designed to support four people in alpine or polar conditions, through all four seasons.

Best tent I have ever owned ( I currently own 6)
This is an amazing tent. It not only looks good but it is super strong, has great ventilation and plenty of room.

I have used this tent in summer conditions and the multi ventilation system works perfectly. Very little condensation.

I have camped at Mt Cook in extreme weather. We woke in the morning after an incredible storm, warm, rested and dry. Our tent was the only tent to survive the night with others being damaged.

It is a little heavy for back packing but split among your party it is worth that little bit of extra weight.

So many great features. You will not be disappointed.

Great tent, well made.
Brilliant tent, easy to put up, plenty of room.
Great features and has kept us dry and warm on many occasions.
would be nice if Macpac could do an add on cover/fly sheet to make a bigger area at the entrance, for cooking and sitting.

extremely robust in high winds; first time set-up a bit of a challenge
I needed a strong, roomy tent for a base camp dwelling in the very windy Falkland Islands and the Hemisphere really delivered. I found it to be an excellent shelter from the frequent gales and foul weather that predominate in the subantarctic and it had plenty of room inside for all my gear. Even though it was difficult to find a space between tussocks that could fully accommodate the tent's footprint, the Hemisphere was still secure in high winds. The insect-proofing was also well tested by the many fleas from nearby penguin nests that tried - and failed - to get at me while I was inside. The only thing stopping me from rating this 5-stars is the set-up of the tent. Although I have a lot of experience setting up a variety of different tents, I found the Hemisphere took a little more thinking to figure out how to properly erect it. It may not have helped that I was doing this solo, but with a little trial and error, it set-up smoothly and, most importantly, securely. This is a small quibble and once you are familiar with this tent it is not an issue. I will rely on the security of the Hempishere as a strong shelter for many more trips to the subantarctic.
