  • Product Description
A versatile mid layer for days in the mountains, whether it be climbing or other activities, this light active insulation will help to keep you warm. Made from Polartec® Alpha® Direct — the same insulation that was originally made for the U.S. Special Forces when they needed an advanced insulating fabric in their combat uniforms — the Nitro offers pared back performance. An evolution of fibre, Alpha® Direct eliminates the needs for a backing fabric and can be in direct contact with skin or other fabric layers, increasing breathability and reducing garment weight. Designed with alpinists and multi-sport athletes in mind, this minimalistic mid layer is warm and incredibly breathable.

Warm and light
I was a bit skeptical about how warm such a light garment could be but was pleasantly surprised at the instant warmth when I tried it on. Like others have said though, ditch the pocket on the men's version - it's not needed. I even tried the women's one that doesn't have the pocket but the largest size was still too small. Tempted to buy another and use them together with a lightweight down jacket for colder conditions

Ultralight midlayer
I was skeptical at first at this fluff-ball midlayer but now am a convert. Because it is just pure fleece with zero frills it is an unbelievably light midlayer. Because it is a delicate outer it is best used in your winter clothing system with an outer softshell or hardshell jacket for protection. I'm often doing climbs where ditching the midlayer is the first option to save weight, but you often regret later. With the nitro pullover you hardly notice the weight but it adds decent amount of extra warmth.

Fantastic top
I love this thing! So warm and airy. I really wish Macpac would ditch the chest pocket though. I would have given it a five out of five but that unnecessary chest pocket....

Macpac, please, please make some pants out of this stuff!

Good fabric performance, would prefer zip and no pocket for optimum usage.
Bought this as I wanted a no frills alpha layer.
It's pretty good stuff. I love it's lightness, fast drying warmth.

The Nitro sizing is a bit tight. I'm Normally a Large, so I ordered large. but this fits more like a medium - or a tight base layer, but less stretchy.
Wish I'd ordered XL now . Used on a 19 day trip recently, and performance is top.
Wish it had a simple neck zip, and no pocket (like the ladies version).

Has anyone else purchased one of these? I have, excessive fluff and pulling. To the point where covered in it. I've washed it too, still fluff!!!
