Why we made this
Sil Net™ is a silicon seam sealer for tents and other outdoor products constructed or coated with silicon, such as silicon treated nylon. Sil Net™ may also be used as an in-field repair material for moderate rips, tears and areas of abrasion. Tube contains 42.5g.
  • Product Description
No one wants to sleep in a puddle. But if you own a silicone nylon tent, you could end up in one - if you don’t treat the seams first. That’s because ultralight silicone coated tents aren’t typically sealed at the factory. Luckily, there’s Gear Aid’s Sil Net™ silicone seam sealer. It’s fast and easy to use. The silicone adhesive in Sil Net™ waterproofs silicone tent seams with just one application. Sil Net’s exclusive formula is not affected by extreme heat or cold. Plus, it comes in handy for repairs on moderate rips and tears. When you need to waterproof silnylon or silicone-treated fabrics, only a silicone sealant will work. Seam sealing with Sil Net is the best way to keep the elements outside where they belong.
  • Design features
    Silicon seam sealer
Unaffected by extreme heat or cold
Ideal for ultralight tents, tarps, packs and garments
For use on silicone treated products
42.5g tube seals critical seams on most ultralight two person tents

Hi, I have an older Fairydown/Macpac Plateau, and the seam sealant is breaking down (getting sticky and peeling). Can I use this to re-seal the seams? And how should I remove the existing sealant (which appears to be a tape)?

I have a very old olympus, maybe 30 years old. I want to re-seal the seams and maybe treat the fly with some sort of waterproofer. Not sure what products I should use?
Chris S on Apr 16, 2020

For the seams we'd recommend Gear Aid Sil Net™ Tube (, and for a waterproofer Nikwax Tent and Gear Solarproof - available in stores.

Kind Regards,
The Macpac Team!
I bought a minaret zenith series tent in 1998. I treated the seams with the sealant. Tent now has two small leaks around the top vents. Can I treat the seams again with silicone?
Richard M on Jan 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Richard, yes this should be fine. If you want a second opinion, we would suggest taking into one of our Macpac stores.
