Macpac Regular Mayfly 350 Down Quilt

Part of our ultralight range, the Mayfly Quilt is built for those who prioritise weight savings without compromising performance on outdoor missions.

This quilt design removes insulation from beneath the body, where down is typically compressed and ineffective, reducing bulk while maximising thermal efficiency where it matters most. Filled with 900-loft ALLIED Feather + Down ExpeDRY® Muscovy down, it delivers an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio for fast-and-light travel.

The technical construction features a differential cut that allows the insulation to fully loft without compression, while the box-baffle construction helps minimise cold spots for consistent warmth. A tapered shape with an enclosed 3D footbox locks in heat around the feet, and an integrated neck baffle with drawcord seals in warmth when temperatures drop.

The zipperless design allows for a greater range of ventilation and adjustment compared to a traditional mummy sleeping bag. In warmer conditions, it can be used like a quilt; when conditions cool, it wraps securely around the body using the two included elastic mat attachment straps to seal out drafts and keep the quilt positioned throughout the night.

Designed as part of a modular sleep system, the Mayfly pairs with an insulated sleeping mat (R-value 4 or higher recommended) and head insulation such as a fleece beanie or lightweight hooded down jacket like the Aether Down Jacket. Its adaptable girth accommodates additional layers, allowing insulated clothing to loft effectively inside the quilt for increased warmth in colder conditions.

Lighter, more compact, and more versatile than a mummy sleeping bag of equivalent loft, the Mayfly is ideal for those who prefer a less restrictive sleep and greater freedom of movement. We estimate it’s suitable for typical three-season conditions as part of a complete sleep system. When paired correctly, it can provide warmth comparable to a lightweight down sleeping bag of similar fill weight. As a general guide, pairing the Mayfly with an insulated mat and head insulation may deliver warmth similar to our Dragonfly 400.

Please note: We haven’t attached fixed temperature ratings to this down quilt because it doesn’t adhere to traditional ISO/ASTM sleeping bag testing requirements.
