How to care for your rainwear
No, wearing it in the rain doesn't count as a wash.
1. Prep
Before you wash your rain jacket make sure you have closed all zippers, fasteners, and self-adjusting tabs.
2. Wash
Use a non-detergent soap or a specialised cleaner like Nikwax Tech Wash®. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle inside a protective mesh bag.
3. Reapply WR Finish
Apply a water repellent treatment like Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On (for targeted application) or Nikwax TX.Direct® Wash-In (for full coverage).
4. Dry
You can dry your garment in two ways: air dry it in the shade, away from direct sunlight, or tumble dry on a low or cool setting. Tumble drying will also help reactivate the WR finish.
