Zip FAQs

What is zip?

Zip allows you to make purchases and get your goods shipped straight away but only pay 25% upfront with the rest charged over three fortnightly interest-free payments.

How does it work?

Apply in moments and get approved for up to $1000 on the spot. Once approved, start shopping online only.

What are the requirements?

Be a New Zealand resident.
Be over 18 years of age.
A valid email address and mobile number.
Have a good credit history.
Spend more than $50 but no more than $8,000 per transaction by using the “Variable First Instalment”.

How do I use Zip online?

1. Add your items to your bag and proceed to checkout.
2. Select Zip as your payment method.
3. Enter your details as requested by Zip.
4. Log into or create your Zip account and pay 25% at checkout with the rest charged over three fortnightly interest-free payments.
5. Your products will be shipped and you will receive a payment schedule from Zip.

How do repayments work?

Payments are automatically scheduled to be taken fortnightly. You’ll pay 25% upfront, then 25% fortnightly for the next 6 weeks. We try to take payment during the day. If this fails, or if you'd like to make a payment earlier, you can use the Zip mobile app or log in to your Zip account and manually make payment. Be sure to pay before midnight to avoid a late payment fee of $8.

How are returns & refunds processed?

If your item meets Macpac’s returns policy, a refund will be processed against your Zip account. If you have already made payments for more than the refund amount, the refund will be processed back to the card associated with your Zip account. This can take a little time depending on the different banks. If the refund amount is more than the payments you have made to date, any overage will be processed against future payments. This means you’ll pay less for your future scheduled payments.

What are the fees and interest rates?

As long as you pay your scheduled payments on time, you will only pay the ticket price and not a cent more. But if you miss a scheduled payment, and don’t process a payment before midnight on the day it is due, Zip will charge an $8 default fee and a further $8 for every week it is outstanding so make sure you have money in your account in advance of your payments coming out. Zip will email you in advance every time as a reminder.
