Why we made this
Proven to protect you from the worst of the weather while hiking, the longline Resolution Pertex® Rain Jacket is designed to be waterproof, breathable and durable.
  • Product Description
This classic hiking jacket is engineered for performance and comfort when out and about in stormy weather. Designed with a fully seam sealed Pertex® Shield Pro three layer outer shell, the Resolution is a long waterproof jacket that is both breathable and durable. A microporous PU membrane contributes to the shell's 20,000 mm hydrostatic head rating but just as importantly, allows your body to breathe during high intensity activity — helping you to stay comfortable while on the move. Double storm flaps with an inner map pocket and an adjustable hood that can roll away, also help to protect you from the weather. Handy cargo pockets and a water-resistant YKK® AquaGuard® zip chest pocket are pack-compatible so you can access them while hiking — adding the finishing touch to a great all-round rain jacket. Please note that the YKK® AquaGuard® zip is water resistant but not waterproof.

Can’t go wrong with this number
I purchased this jacket after working as an adventure tour guide for 6 months and the company supplied it for the time I was working for them. Honeslty, I wore it in all conditions heavy rain, wind, cooler alpine climates with layers underneath. It was great. Because I absolutely thrashed it over those 6 months it did need further waterproofing but the quality and durability after all of this was worth it. My advice buy the size that has a little more room to move not a fitted size because you will want to pop a few layers underneath if you are in a cooler climate or hiking/adventuring in the cooler months. The company supplied the jackets in black and I brought the purple because it was on clearance and more affordable for me. But by all means this jacket is worth every penny even at full price. The shape is really nice to I always got a lot of compliments from the guests and would tell them to check it out on the Macpac website.

Inefficient Product
This jacket was a waste of time and money! Wore it in the recent heavy downpour we’ve had in Sydney and inspite of zipping up fully and using Velcro tape fasteners and the hood attachment, I was drenched, soaked through to the skin and telephone and tissues which were in my deep covered pockets, got soaking wet. Pertex is not as good as Goretex in my opinion. In fact it doesn’t come close. I was informed by the Sales assistant that Pertex was similar. How wrongly misinformed I was. Anyone who wants an effective rain jacket, should only buy Goretex

How do I organise waterproof for my perfect jacket ?
Rebecca P on Jul 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi Rebecca,

The Resolution Rain Jacket comes ready to use, no need to add product to make it waterproof. If you are looking clean and re-apply the waterproof layers on the outside, we would recommend using the Nikwax products on our website.

Thanks, The Macpac Team

What is the difference between this jacket and the copland rain jacket.? Cheers
Lynette H on Feb 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Lynette,

The fabric, hydrostatic head, breathability, membrane and weight.

Reflex™ 100% Nylon vs. Pertex ® Shield Pro 100% Nylon
10000 vs. 20000 hydrostatic head and breathability
Monolithic PU vs. Microporous PU Coating
690 (Size 10) vs. 550 (Size 10)

Generally you get a much lighter, breathable and waterproof jacket with the Resolution.

Kind regards,
The Macpac Team
How long could I expect this to last?
Ailsa on Aug 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Ailsa, a very difficult question to answer. Depends on care and use. Our care instructions are:

To get the best performance out of your waterproof garment frequent washing and drying is recommended
Before washing ensure all zippers and closures are secure
Warm machine wash on gentle cycle using pure soap or Nikwax Tech Wash®
Do not bleach or use fabric softeners
Cool tumble dry. This is very important to rejuvenate the DWR finish
Do not dry clean
Apply a DWR restorer, such as Nikwax TX. Direct® to help prolong the life of your garment
A frequently washed garment is a well performing one
How much does the size 10 weigh?
Ailsa on Aug 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hello Alisa, about 550gms. Thanks the Macpac Team
