Why we made this
A technical alpine climbing pack, the Pursuit is engineered for performance, durability and lightweight comfort on challenging, mountainous terrain.
  • Product Description
Designed for exposed multi-pitches and delicate cruxes, the Pursuit is a fully featured, lightweight alpine pack with a 40 litre capacity. Engineered to be durable and weather resistant with our legendary Eco AzTec® 8 oz. canvas fabric and tough Cordura® base fabric, this pack has an ActiveX™ alpine harness with a moulded and laminated closed cell foam back panel — to reduces moisture absorption and subsequent freezing potential — and removable bivvy mat. An adjustable sternum strap with a built in whistle and a lightly padded hip belt provides support, stability and comfort when carrying heavy loads, while the side compression straps allow you to adjust the pack's volume and attach snow stakes and other gear to the sides with low-rise side pockets. Dual ice axe attachments, daisy chains and 'V' webbing loops keep tools secure while on the move. The main compartment has a large top zip opening and a top compression strap with a tension hook for securing your rope over the top. A top zip pocket holds small essentials within easy reach. A technical pack for all alpine pursuits.

Hi just wondering what the differences are with this pack and the Macpac Rhyolite 47L Hiking Pack?
Riva M on Jan 21, 2021

The Rhyolite has an extra 7L capacity and also has a front zip which means you can pack from the front and the top. This also has a few more adjustments on the shoulder straps to make the fit more comfortable.

Hi, just wondering how it would cope with skis and boots strapped to the sides for ski touring? Thanks.
Stefan F on Aug 17, 2020

The side straps are designed to attached skis to this pack. Alternatively, our new Huka Pack is designed for the exact thing you are looking to use it for.

does the pursuit 40L take a 3L hydration bladder?
carol s on Jun 18, 2020

Thank you for your email.

The pursuit only has a loop to hold the hydration bladder but a 3L bladder is plenty of room to fit comfortably against the back panel.

I have been fiddling about. Can’t figure out the best way to attach my axes. What are the metal bits for?
Stevie K on Jun 11, 2020

Thank you for your enquiry.

The metal part goes through the yellow hole at the front of the bag and the handle should be secured in using the yellow straps on the sides on the bag. Please refer to the photos shown for this on the product page for more information.

I have the torlesse 35 (s2). And am looking for something slightly bigger but light. Is this pack (s2) actually 5l more capacity than the torlesse all up?
Chanel C on Feb 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hello Chanel,

Yes, the Macpac Pursuit 40L is 5L more than the Torlesse 35L.

Kind regards,
