WOMEN'S
PUFFER JACKETS

What is a Puffer Jacket?

Whether you say “puffer” or “down,” any women’s jacket or coat filled with insulation is an easy place to start.

Some look puffier than others and some come in longline coats for when the temperature really drops. But what’s important to remember about our ladies puffer jackets is that we’ve got options to suit your changing style, in all conditions.

Colours

It can be easy to find a women’s puffer jacket that keeps you warm, but finding the colour that speaks to you can make a world of difference.

Whether you need a bright red or yellow jacket to stand out above the snowline, a soft cream or white coat to stay toasty around town in, or a pink vest to throw on when the weather gets chilly — we’re always looking at colours that reflect the season and complement the wider range.

Styles

Our women’s puffer jackets and coats come in all shapes and inclusive sizes.

You can find longline options for some full length style. Hooded and non-hooded options for versatility when you’re out, and sleeveless vests that are lightweight and packable for when you know you’ll need it later.

Sizes

Macpac’s women’s puffer jackets, coats and vests are available in sizes ranging from 6 through to 20.

Fill

Puffer jackets are filled with synthetic or down insulation. Depending on the end use of a jacket they can be combined, but the key differences between both options are compressibility and water resistance. Generally speaking, duck and goose down is nature’s most effective insulator. It’s highly compressible, but the tradeoff is that it clumps when wet. Synthetic insulation is able to retain warmth when wet, but it mightn’t be as compressible as a result.

Feel free to take a look at this article to fully understand which option is right for you. All our duck and goose down is responsibly sourced. Among other things, Two of the most important aspects are no live-plucking, and complete traceability through Allied Feather + Down. You can find more information on our down here.

Waterproof vs Water Resistant

Waterproof means waterproof. Sealed seams and bonded baffles ensure nothing gets between you and what’s keeping you warm. Water resistant, however, is a slightly different story.

The treatments we apply to water resistant fabrics are designed to encourage water to bead and roll off. They’re ideal for quick showers as you move from one place to another, but not sustained exposure.

Washing Your Puffer Jacket

Taking care of your jacket isn’t as simple as throwing it in the wash. You don’t need to wash it every time you wear it, either. Here’s a how-to we’ve put together to make it easy.

Repairing Your Puffer Jacket

The fabrics we use are designed to withstand the odd bump or scrape, but there may come a time when a tear begins to leak feathers or expose insulation. We’ve got a repairs programme available through stores and select partners, or you can have a go at patching your jacket at home.

Quality outdoor gear, made responsibly, trusted to last in any environment.
